Smita is volunteering her time to help people in Burma, of which many will be orphan children from poor backgrounds, to provide dental treatment. The team will see 70 to 80 patients a day using mobile units going out into the field (villages, free pre schools, playgrounds).
Burmadent provides basic dental treatment and prophylactic care to the 200,000 people living around Inle Lake, Shan Province, Burma. The aim is to relieve the current suffering amongst all generations from dental neglect. So far since November 2012 to 2016 over 6000 local people have been treated with the emphasis on orphans and the rural poor.
Burmadent has provided all the materials, hand instruments and handpieces for the surgeries. Mobile Units and equipment that accompany the units such as autoclaves have been purchased.
Smita is going out to Burma to volunteer her services as an experienced dentist and would be grateful for any donation, no matter how great or small for this worthwhile charity. On her return, Smita will add photographs to her website and any big sponsors will also be mentioned.
Could you please take a moment and donate to the following justgiving page and support Smita in this worthwhile work she is doing:
‘The Christmas tree lights were switched on by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Tannia Shipley on Thursday 1st December 2016. The children from the Esher Church Primary School choir sang carols and the 3rd Molesey Scout and Bugle Band played. It was a wonderful evening and lovely to see so many people from the local community.’
Bikes, Burgers, Beer, Face Painting, Push-ups & Paella!
July 31st 2016 saw the inaugural Esher High Street Festival to coincide with the Ride London Cycle Race. The local community turned out in force to be cheer on all the cyclists taking part in the Ride London event, and see what the Festival had to offer!
Organised by members of the Esher Business Guild, Esher throw open its doors to put on a High Street Festival for the local community in and around Esher. Stalls from coffee to cocktails, beers to burgers, fitness to finance, photos to face-painting, there was plenty for the crowds of supporters to get involved with. One could test their fitness with Frazer and the crew from New Wave Crossfit, or sit back and enjoy craft beer from The Park Brewery with a BBQ burger from Henry's Grill...not to forget a selection of Artisan Coffee and treats courtesy of G!RO. Ice creams and face painting kept the kids (and adults) entertained throughout the day! It was a great opportunity for local businesses to showcase what they do, as well as the general public to get together and enjoy a day on the high street with friends and families.
Throughout the day, the Ride 100 public race filtered down the high street that saw nearly 26000 take part - from super keen, super quick amateurs to those riding for charities. The Esher crowds showed their true colours by cheering on riders from the first wave all the way through to the last...signs and all!!
Finally, the main event. Some of the world's top professional cyclists racing in the Surrey Classic pro race, came streaming down Esher High street on route to the finish on Pall Mall in Central London, having just finished the challenging climbs of the Surrey Hills. Led by Britain and Team Sky's very own Geraint Thomas, the riders put on quite a show for the Esher masses! Race Director Mick Bennett even stopped for a take away coffee from G!RO delivered right to his car!! Then, thanks the Big Screen provided by the Ride London organisers for Esher, the crowds stayed to watch the climax of the race, which was won by Belgian legend Tom Boonen! It was a thrilling conclusion to what had been a brilliant day enjoyed by all right here in the heart of Esher!
